Deli took sewing as a hobby and turned it into her profession 6 years ago, combining her love of sewing and her passion for the fashions and styles of the 1940s and 1950s and launching her successful vintage reproduction dressmaking business, Delphine Delovely.
The business was started after Deli struggled to find original vintage clothing pieces that fit the modern woman’s curves, and she started making her own dresses for special occasions and festivals.
Deli’s passion is collecting vintage sewing patterns and bringing them back to life using vintage and modern fabrics and using original sewing techniques to create beautiful reproduction outfits.
“I have been teaching sewing classes in London and the South East for the last 5 years and have also been involved with The Knitting and Stitching Show teaching dressmaking workshops at the London shows,” said Deli. “I also run school sewing clubs as I am keen to get children into the craft from a young age, and for it to appear again on school timetables,” she added.
Deli’s passion for vintage sewing is evident in her classes as she loves to pass on her skills and tips to others in a friendly and enthusiastic way, encouraging them to bring the past back to life!
